 NAFTAINSTRUCTIONS
The object of the game is to acrue as much money as possible. This is done by merchanting, that is, buying goods at low prices, and then selling them at high prices.
To start the game, select the level of dificulty you would like to start out as. The only difference is the items you start with:
1 - Easy (American): You have a dingy (1 speed, 1 secret, 25 cargo) and 100 dollars. You are in Miami.
2 - Normal (Mexican): You have a raft (1 speed, 1 secret, 10 cargo) and 50 dollars. You are in Veracruz.
3 - Hard (Cuban): You have a raft (1 speed, 1 secret, 10 cargo) and 0 dollars. You are in Havana.
Each city (5 in all) have 3 of 4 different places you can visit. I will highlight them below:
1 - Market: The Market is where you buy and sell goods.
2 - Bank: You may deposit your money at any bank and then withdraw it at any bank to keep it safe and earn a little interest.
3 - Loan Shark: The Loan Shark will lend you money, but at a high rate of interest. All fines from the coast guard are transfered to the Loan Shark
4 - The Seaport: The seaport is where you may buy boats, and manage the boats that are currently moored in that city.
I will now address the topic of boats. Each boat has 3 charactoristics:
1 - Cargo: The amount of cargo, or items purchased at the market, the boat can carry.
2 - Speed: The speed of the boat, from 1-5, 5 being the fastest. The faster your boat, the more likely you are to successfully run away from the coast guard.
3 - Secret: The ability of your boat to successfully hide goods from the coast guard, from 1-5, 5 being the best.
As you aquire more and more boats, you will be forced to either keep your old ones moored, or sell them. To do either, click on the 'manage fleet' button in the seaport. It will show you how many boats you have moored of each type. Clicking the dollar sign next to the boat sells it and all the goods currently in it. Clicking on the picture of that boat will swap your current boat for that one.
Now i will explain how you tracel between cities. When you press the travel button you will be brought to a map of the Gulf of Mexico. Click on the star next to the city where you want to go to travel to it. If you click on the city you are currently in (marked by a picture of your current boat) you will be taken back to that city without any further time elapsing. Once you have clicked on the star, you will see yourself traveling to that city. Pressing the spacebar will speed up your travel time dramatically.
While traveling their is a chance you might run into the coast guard, who will request to board your ship. You are then given three options:
1 - Let them Search: If you press this button, the coast guard will search your ship for drugs. If they find any drugs (keeping in mind a ship with a high secret rate will lower their chances of finding any) they will imediately confiscate all of your drugs, and fine you $1000 dollars for each unit you had.
2 - Run Away: Pressing this button has you attempt to flee from the coast guard. They may or may not catch you (depending on your speed). If they do you will be fined $5000. They will then search your ship for drugs, with the same rules as above applying, except the ine per unit is doubled to $2000.
3 - Attempt to Bribe: If you press this button (After entering your amount of money to bribe the coast guard with) you will be fined $10000 as well as having all of your drugs confiscated, and fined an additional $2000 per unit of drugs. The amount it takes to bribe the coast guard varies from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
